How do you teach it ? My boy is great as long as he is on the lead I mean no corrections at all very loose lead but all deals are off after he is off the lead. Any pointers?

How are you teaching the heel when he is on the lead?! I often have the opposite problem where my dogs heel wonderfully off the lead, but I fumble around with the lead

I use purely motivational techniques and spend quite a bit of time teaching the dog to find heel and that it is the *most* fun to be in that position!

If I am able to get a better idea of where you might be having difficulties I might be able to offer some more specific advice.

Sorry they're pretty poor vids, but I don't tape heeling often

This is why i like i training offlead from day dot., and using food and clicker.
My 5mth old is doing well offlead as i have always trained her offlead as the lead a nuisance when teaching commands as it gets in the way.
Obviously the lead is used at the dog training club, but when at home and at my (local park i dont use the lead, only when im only one there).

I attend an AKC obedience club classes in my area and that is how I learned anything about obedience. He does not thrive on anything as far as rewards go. He wants to please yet does not care. Does that make sense?

What is his "currency"? All dogs have something that is valuable to them.....the clicker, treats, praise. You have to find what it is that makes him tick and use it!!!
